mic Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I went out yesterday with only my 3wt. It was the first day this year I had calm water for topwater fishing. I tried and tried, but the bass still were not interested. I caught a handful of bluegills though. I switched to small yellow clouser. It took me a while to get the speed down... they wanted short rapid tugs. All and all I ended up bringing in two big bulls, 10 average bluegills, and half dozen small bass. I know it is June, but it just seems the water isn't warm enough to get a really good topwater "pond" bite on the East side. Let me know if you are having better luck. Here is a pic of the smaller of the two big bulls. Caught this one on the clouser.

DaddyO Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Nice. Mic, what size are the clousers for bluegill? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
mic Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Nice. Mic, what size are the clousers for bluegill? You know what I don't know. It was given to me. It wasn't big... maybe 2.5 or 3 inches long with a two inch long hook.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 You know what I don't know. It was given to me. It wasn't big... maybe 2.5 or 3 inches long with a two inch long hook. Good grief! That's a full grown one for sure. I have a lot of fun around Beaver, Swan and BS with small yellow spiders working the "perch" on topwater with my 3wt. That average is probably 3 or 4" long but it's so fast it's relaxing. Once in awhile a LM in the 12" range will show up. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
