Members JR Brotherton
I agree Aldrich is the place to be. I'd try the East side of the big bend by the lake boundary or where cow creek comes in below the boat ramp. Also Greenfield access depending on the water temp. Stockton Lake Guide Service
the channels that time of year will be on flats and the best way to fish for them is drift fishing with shad. During the day they will be hanging out in or close to the channel but in the evening we catch alot of them drifting the flats. Since you are fishing from the bank, it would be best to find a spot that has deep water close, and fish about 15 foot of water. I'm sure they bite other places also, but it's the most consistent way i have found to catch them in the summer. I'm hoping the kyle guy was just joking, but for the most part everyone tries to help each other on here. straw hat
I like fishing for channels in August (assuming the temp isn't in triple digits, lol). There are a lot of places you can get access to 30 or 40' deep water from the bank. I like to start out about halfway between the nearest point and the deep water and pick up channels as they head back from the point to the deep water (fish 15 to 20'). Around 10 AM I am ready to move to the deep drop off and will spend the rest of the day there (30 to 40' deep is usually the best). I agree with Bob. I am a dummy and always assume people fish during the day like me. lol Starting out at 15 feet you catch the ones coming in off the flats back to deep water during the day. In either case good luck and stay cool!!
