J-Doc Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Oh and Scott my trolling setup works great. I'll be adding another to the other side now. :-) Two flickers are better than one. Lol! I was impressed with my little motor. She idled really good and never gave me a fuss at trolling. That fishinwrench must have worked her over good in my rebuild. I got over 5.5mpg at WOT last time out and yesterday, I ran WOT and trolled from P Creek to Shaddox, then to the islands at 12 bridge, then to the Esculpila area and then back up to Ventris finally back to P. Creek on just 6.5-7 gallons of fuel on a 79 Evinrude (85hp). I'd say those number speak for themselves. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Feathers and Fins Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Life is good man and two are better than 1 and four are better than 2 My brother went out last night and got into them where I told you but he said they were moving in and out of shallows and had to zig-zag a lot. He said he misses not being in a boat with sidescan or as he calls it cheatscan. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

kjackson Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Thanks, F&F. The boy will be glad to hear that we're going fishing right away. The little bit we did last fall after we moved and before he headed back to school wasn't that productive--kind of like my walleye fishing. I've fished in Arkansas a lot over the years, and so far I've not touched a walleye. I've caught flatheads, and I've caught crappies, and I've caught a lot of bass (black and white) while trying for walleyes. They're not a mystery fish for me as I've caught a bunch in Washington and some of my travels up north. But in this state... In the meantime, I'm happy chasing white bass. They're a hoot, and asJ-Doc says, they are good eating.
Hojo Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Anybody get out today? I went early and it was a struggle. Fished from PC to Monte Ne. Bass fished most of the day and tried to find the walleye before we left. Ended up with 4 Kentuckies, all short. A white, hybrid, small striper, a drum and a good cat.
Members marknsaw Posted June 14, 2013 Members Posted June 14, 2013 White bass: Soak the filets in buttermilk or a half/half combo of white vinegar/water for 30 minutes before cooking. What red stripe? 3 channels, 5 whites, and 2 walleye Monday morning. They wanted PURPLE!
