Members innova Posted June 28, 2013 Members Posted June 28, 2013 Fished Wednesday night from 7pm till 1:00 am under lights on a mid-lake hump that rises to 34 feet deep and has brush on it. Water around the hump is 45-50 feet deep. Good shad swarm by 9:30, slow fishing. 4 kentuckies before dark on drop shot, 5 whites on white jigging spoon, 1 short walleye on white jigging spoon. 2 bites missed on crappie minnows. Top water action all around the boat mostly small whites or crappie chasing minnows, did have a huge smallmouth come out of the water chasing shad. Pretty cool to watch. Just had trouble getting them to bite. Talked to a number of guys at the ramp as I was putting in that said they were fishing under the 12 bridge for the past couple of nights and catching a few. When I got back to the ramp everyone was gone so I am assuming their luck was like mine.
npierceuark Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 My excursion last weekend was a similar experience. Ended around 2am with 2 nice cats that we caught on jugs, one walleye and 6 crappie all on minnows. I don't the full moon helped much, we had a mini minnow storm but never got the shad. Fished in 25 FOW near the channel that was down around 60 FOW. I think I'll be shopping around for some new locations but without a fishfinder it'll be trial and error for me for another month or so.
