bferg Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Finally got back on the water with a new little fishing/duck rig. Pretty excited about it. My 5 yr old HAS to get out on that thing this weekend- or else I am in big trouble. The girl is obsessed! (makes me proud) Anyway: I want to her catch fish so she stays interested. Any advice on the set up and where to go? I am thinking of going to the back of Monte Ne in the flooded area with some crickets under a bober. Would that be a good plan? My bream/sunfishing experience is pretty limited but I am thinking around flooded timber and docks we should be able to get bit a few times... Any other advice would be helpful.
J-Doc Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Brother I'm with you and then n the same hot seat. I thought about Lake Fayetteville and fish near the bank and in pockets. For Beaver, I'd say go into the coves and escape the traffic. The earlier mornings are better with cooler temps and less ski boats. I'd say try the Van Winkle area. Lots of deep water and coves allowing fish to move about. You will catch a lot of small sunfish on crickets / worms. They'll make you tired of them. Docks, lay downs, pole timber near the bank, and DEFINATELY find some rock bluffs and fish them. Get your bobber as close to something g as possible. It will go down within seconds so have her ready. Post some pics! Keep the kids fishing I say! Good luck!! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. jerry241 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I have two daughters that are grown now but when we started them fishing they were about the same age. Wonderful memories that last a lifetime. That being said I would start out with worms with crickets you have to rebait the hook after every little nibble. It's easier with worms and usually just as effective. Good luck to y'all and have fun
Feathers and Fins Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 im sittiing in Prairie Creek doing some paper work right now and there is bream and small bass in the back of it, looks like they are making a good meal of ants and other insects. Size looks 2 to 5 inches for bream and about 12'' for the bass. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Sore Thumbs Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 If you can put in around point 12 and night fish for a few hours there are several docks on the right hand side after you enter War Eagle arm. They have lights shining down into the water and tons of submerged laydowns. They start biting in there as soon as dark hits.
