bigredbirdfan Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Unfortunately I had my two rods fall into the river this weekend. Does anyone have links to sites that show what I should do to them now that they have been submerged into the water. Spinning reels.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Don't fix what isn't broken. Reels are built for wet environments and if they were briefly dunked in shallow water there is probably nothing that needs to be done. If you aren't sure then remove the side panel and see if everything is still lubed and drain any water. It really depends on how long they are in, how warm they are compared to the water and how well sealed the gear case is. Everything exposed should be built to be wet. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gavin Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 My reels get wet all the time. I usually don't do anything with them in the warm months, unless they accumulated some grit. Inspect and lube them if need be in the winter time.
