Hello,

I have a problem regarding a vacation that my family is wanting to plan. We are wanting to head to Canada for a week possibly to a fly in Lodge. We would like to fish for the week and hang out with each other. The problem I have is that I have no clue where to start looking. There are several lodges that look interesting but not sure how the fishing would be. Here are the details that we are looking at.

Approximately 10 people traveling

5 couples

a week stay with good fishing!!!

Any suggestions or referrals would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bittle

I'm not an expert or anything but we've went to lake of the woods a couple times...we've stayed a couple different places and the place i'd recommend is the Red Deer Lodge. It's in nestor falls. you can drive-in and they can arrange a fly-out trip for those who want to do it...the fishing is good close-by, so there aren't any real long boat rides. We've also stayed up by souix narrows and you had to drive your boat much farther to the better fishing areas. Red deer lodge isn't the taj mahal but it's clean and convenient.

Thanks Wily I'll look into it a little more. Anybody else have any thoughts?

I've never been.

I'd think the Steffen brothers would chime in on their place their family would go... Steff and Jean always had great stories about the trips.

This is a trip I have takein a half dozen times and could recommend to anyone who likes to get away. The camp is surrounded by beautiful scenery as well as awsome fishing. Landed my very first pike on a fly casting to the lilly pads near there dock

I would recommend a place called Deerhorn Lodge. This place was great. The fishing was excellent for Northern, walleye, and lakers. You have a real shot every day of landing a northern over 42" on a fly. We caught too many to count in the 35" range. Accomadation were adequate. Nothing fancy. Food was good and the staff was awesome. My dad and I are going to Alaska this summer otherwise we would go back this year. It is a good deal especially for a fly in lake. You are way up there. About 300 miles north of Winnipeg. Check out the website. Ted
