Members Wahoo61 Posted July 1, 2013 Members Posted July 1, 2013 Hammered the hybrids om O3 on saturday on live shad. It was crazy with 4 rods going down about 5 or 6 straight drifts
Members Wahoo61 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Members Posted July 9, 2013 Caught fish again (Hybrids) on O3 on live shad until we ran out. Bait was hard to come by in the right size and at all. Caught one walleye and lost one at the boat. Fishing in 40 to 70 feet of water just after the dropoff on the south side of O3. Caught the Walleyes trolling cranks in the shallow water 8-10 at O3.
Hog Wally Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I was there everyday from Thursday through Sunday. I limited out on walleye everyday. 9lb was biggest. Lots of whites and few hybrids.
vonreed Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 What does O3 mean you guys? I'm not real familiar with that area other than fishing at the dam.
oneshot Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 What does O3 mean you guys? I'm not real familiar with that area other than fishing at the dam. It's 3 miles from the Dam SW by Shawnee Bend. oneshot
Members Wahoo61 Posted July 11, 2013 Author Members Posted July 11, 2013 Hog Wally, great job on the Walleye. We caught one and lost one last Sunday. What kind of boat do you fish out of? I fish in an 18 ft white with blue trim Nitro Center Console Bay Boat. On the Walley's what were you using? Crank banging bottom? if so, if you don't mind me asking, what kind? The ones we caught were on a bass pro Black back and chart that will dive to 19ft. Digging the bottom pretty good in 8-10 ft of water. I have seen a lot of fish caught on that bait and will be buying a bunch, a lot cheaper than the other baits and they work. Vonreed, when you come across the bridge on 7 just before you get to the dam access road O3 is the point to the north at the west end of the big bluff. Out your left window going across towards Warsaw.
Hog Wally Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 The first limit I caught was Thursday evening when I got there. I was in a tan deck boat with a severily undersized trolling motor so I tied off on the furthest tree from the tip of the point. There was a seam there just like on the rivers I fish. Bomber cranks until I lost them all then I switched over to whatever I had that dove 7 to 12 foot. Chartreuse had to be on the lure. Any combination worked as long as chartreuse was on it. After that I was either in a black river pro or a astro fish n ski. My brothers boats. We also caught a bunch off kk standing on the bank. Couldn't buy a fish trolling but could limit out every time just casting. Weird. The guys trolling at kk crowded us pretty bad and hosed it up Seamed like they wanted it a foot off the bottom and you had to bring it downstream to there open mouths. Exactly like the rivers. I totally stumbled onto this successful weekend and don't expect to do it again. There was one other guy in a grey colored older bass boat with a Yamaha on it. He tore fish up! He was really cool and I wish everyone on that lake was as friendly and he actually found one of my cranks floating and knew it was mine and gave it back. He said he lost a 30" walleye at kk. Hope this helps I only get to go to Truman 3 times a summer and I would move there if I could. That lake has it all
Members Wahoo61 Posted July 11, 2013 Author Members Posted July 11, 2013 Nice, glad you had a good trip. I primarily fish for hybrids, but if the Walleye are there, going to give them a try. From everything I hear the Walleye fishing has been off the hook at Truman this year. Which side of KK were you fishing. I have not really fished there except for one time. Fishing the west side when the Hybrids and whites were blowing up on top. Tight Lines!!!!!
