Danoinark Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Isn't there a ramp at River Ridge? Would they allow shuttle pickup from there? Or the ramp at the confluence? Sounds like a canoe float would be ideal? Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 No ramp at RR. But you might as well just go to the confluence if you're that far down. I'm assuming RR is what we've always called handicap access. SIO3
Danoinark Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Snagged, I am talking about the River Ridge Cabins and resort just downstream from the Handicapped Access...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
cpriest Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Hey guys, a friend of mine is trying to plan a trip to the Norfork in late march, and of course he said he wanted to go to McClellans and i had to inform him it was closed. My question for everyone is there another place on the Norfork similar to McClellans, meaning a place with hot showers/bathrooms that we can camp at? we would be spending 3 nights up there. Thanks
Snow Fly Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 There is a state camp grounds just below the dam, never stayed there but looks nice Don't know about showers/restrooms I have seen numerous tents on site "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Danoinark Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Quarry Park. Just below the dam. Its a state park with tent and rv campsites, electricity, showers and retrooms. Nice place. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
John Berry Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 I have camped at Quarry park on several occassions and its facilities are top notch. In reality much nicer than McClellan's. The differance is the fishing! John Berry OAF CONTRIBUTOR Fly Fishing For Trout (870)435-2169 http://www.berrybrothersguides.com berrybrothers@infodash.com
BrianK Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Heading down to Taney Sat-Sun pm. May try to hit N.Fk Monday. Anyone know ballpark drive time from Branson to N.Fk dam?? I'll have a canoe and possibly a little boat (if motor works). May try to do this Quarry to Handicap (or Confluence) stretch. Is there a ramp at all 3 of those accesses? The whole river to the confluence is only about 5 mi right??? only fished it once below the dam yrs ago..... thanks, Brian
Terry Beeson Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 You should be able to make the drive in 2 hours or less. I've made it in just over 2 from Nixa, but that's a stretch. Ramps at Quarry and the confluence. No ramp at the handicap access... walk in only. SilverMallard Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Good way to increase property value if you're thinking about selling in a few years. Deny access long enough to make it a BIG deal when it reopens, but not long enough for anyone to forget how good it was. Then you sell the place to a high rolling Yankee or Texan who puts in a big ole Orvis endorsed lodge! "That's the way you do it. Get your money for nothin' and your chicks for free."
