straw hat Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 There are plenty of big cats in Stockton.Blue79. I usually catch 2 or a year that are over 8 lbs. (I don't know but to me that is a big channel lol) I have also caught a lot of flatheads on Stockton. My best was 35# and probably 15 or 20 between 10 and 30#. Although I am lazy and only day fish Cheif Grey Bear is absolutely right, night is better than daytime. For a big flathead I would never fish over 15' deep on the lake. At night I would stick to 10' or less.Nice set up by the way/
blue79 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 I need to get a job close to home so i can be home every night and be able to fish at night more.

Members coreykallmbah Posted July 10, 2013 Members Posted July 10, 2013 I drive truck so I know what ya mean by wishing we had a job close to home.when I'm out on the road I can't wait to get back home and get on the lake ..that's a nice organized jug setup you have there .
Members crankdragger Posted July 10, 2013 Members Posted July 10, 2013 You want some good jugs get "Jug's by Burt" the best I have ever used. I do most of my catfishing down in Ok. You can keep the channel all we try to catch are the blues and throw the rest back.
blue79 Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Wow!!! $9 each.I think i will keep the ones i made.Havent lost one yet and all it cost me was hooks and braided line and some orange paint.Plus mine stand straight up and i can see them from pretty far away. Those look nice but somebody might try to steal them out of my boat.
Krazo Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The only thing You want some good jugs get "Jug's by Burt" the best I have ever used. I do most of my catfishing down in Ok. You can keep the channel all we try to catch are the blues and throw the rest back. Burt's jugs are nice with the whole jug setup contained right there in the disc, but it does cost some good $$. I've been able to replicate the rig with the exception of the actual jug. I use a 14" foam noodle with a 20" pvc thru the middle of it. I spool the line directly on the pvc and use a coated wire to adjust depth. spooling line makes this system but its does produce!!! caught 2 25# blues on same jug one night last spring.
dennis boatman Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The best Jug setup I've seen was at the Party Cove at LOZ.... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
