Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Been working on it for a few weeks, My logs are on excel and as I wrote it I kept finding more and more patterns to beaver lake that proved true. the original post was 3 times the size but I scaled it back to what I hope will be the best information to help people put fish in the boat. Its neat having the logs and being able to cross reference them over thousands of days of fishing to see there are very unmistakable patterns and places year in and year out based of the parameters I placed in the log. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 So the obvious question I see here is if you could show us an example of how you do a log. What information and such you put in to be able to go back and see these patterns.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Asking a Fisherman to see an example of his logs is like asking a woman her weight!!!! SHAME ON YOU They are on Excel which does not transfer to forums. But I will make a blank copy and try and explain it might take a few days to do it and scan everything so i can post pics of it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Would you care to go into any more detail in regards to generating schedule and how it influences the fishing? I know you touched on it a little.

Or as my friend would say, "you want my hunting spot too???". Lol. No, you said they were in Excel, I thought maybe just one line or something. I know, that would give up the one line of information. But maybe I am not understanding it correctly on how your doing it? I figured you might have a column that you label "Temp", then one labeled "elevation", so on and so forth. I was just curious how you had it set up to see how you could see trends. No, if I were trying to see all your good stuff I'd just beg you to take me to all your honey holes in person. Much better that way.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Simplified down it creates current, current moves bait, predators set up at feeding stations to eat. the influence of current depends on many factors in Beaver ACE being the biggest as to how much they generate then you have to figure in duration and wind. Its a complicated beast but with years of paying attentio to it you will know where to go at each generation by its volum and durration schedule. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 It is a large excel form with drop down formula boxes so I can eleminate as many factors as possible. I can pull up by day by year then by weather condition then by temp etc etc and draw a conclusion as to where and what depth the fish will be on and even the top 10 possible baits to use. After 2 years patterns develope after multiple years though clear patterns show. The Old saltwater fishermen in me guards them tighter than I would my wife and only slightly less than my dog lol. When i took people on the Salt I actually did a gear and person search for GPS stuff. Saltwater numbers are guarded closer than the gold in Knox. lol https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Interesting. Yea, no numbers or specific info needed. I completely understand. I could see how it would work out keeping track of things, but it does seem like a daunting task. I could see putting together something for a limited area, like Indian Creek/Dam area, but you seem to have a knowledge of the entire lake. How much time would you say you spend on the water? That has to be the number one thing when it comes to getting to know something, time. Which makes me wonder if it would even be productive if someone only fished once a week or so.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Depending on work load and family obliterations ooppss obligations I average about 180 days a year on the lake some of those trips are maybe 2 hours some 16 hours and then there is my roaming office that allows me to add another 20 to 30 days at the various ramps doing paperwork so i get to see where others are. Tack on e-mails, phone calls and dirty text pictures and I keep up on the lake pretty close. I tell people if they want stripers they are not hard to find just go out early and look for all the center consule boats with (STRIPER GUIDE) on them. Give them space but those guides are usually on active fish. when they leave and pull the rest of the boats with them. That is whem it can get real good. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
zarraspook Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 WOW !!!!! Being a "twice-a-year-to-Beaver" fisherman::: THANK YOU !!!!!!! I can only get down there once in the spring and once in the fall but, excellent ideas for finding fish.. The one I use most is the one above -- "I tell people if they want stripers they are not hard to find just go out early and look for all the center consule boats with (STRIPER GUIDE) on them. Give them space but those guides are usually on active fish.." I always give the guides plenty of space and have never had problems with any of the guides..... Thanks again for all the data you provide to us less fortunate stripper chasers ...... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
