Members Nightbrew Posted July 11, 2013 Members Posted July 11, 2013 What cfs and or gauge height should the river be to float this section w/o too much dragging? Current data shows pretty good but the gauge is down at big piney. Let me know what you think
Greasy B Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 The Gage at Big Piney is a long way from Baptist Camp, not much use. The window for most headwater floats closed about 3 weeks ago. Now it's drag and float, for that part of BP probably more drag than float. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. exiledguide Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Agree with GreasyB you'll do some dragin' at least to brushy creek just above horseshoe bend.........but I never floated any of that stretch without doing lots of dragin' but it always was worth it.....If you do that float do not pass up theriver above and below Brushy Creek especialy below Brushy Creek with out fishing back up it more than once and I would get out and wade fish it back upstream the right bank below that hole is public LAD State walk in forest on down through Horseshoe Bend so you should have no problem beaching your canoe there
Members walkeg Posted July 16, 2013 Members Posted July 16, 2013 How is the water from Mason Bridge on down? I was told little or no dragging! First time on the river. Usually float the Gasconade. Going next week. Thanks
Greasy B Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 The middle and lower river should be prime for canoes. The river has dropped enough to keep all but the dumbest jet boaters away and the window has opened for those of us with more pastoral angling aspirations.
