Hi all. I've read the Stockton forum for years and fished Stockton since I was just a lil guy, but recently I have been wondering if it is worth trying to float from Fiddler's ford to 160 bridge on turnback. Anyone else floated it? Good fishing or not worth the trouble? Pretty logpiled up or free and clear? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

...I would think earlier in the year (Aprilish) would be much better...Never done it, but at that time of year I'd expect excellent fishing...Walleye go much further up the creek than most people would believe...

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

Spring, excellent fishing...Summer, another story, a lot of drum, channel cat and some black/Kentucky bass...pretty clean float from 160 to O Hwy., past that not too sure......

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure that spring would be the best time to float it, but, of course, I didn't really think about it till hot hot summer. I've duck hunted in the area of turnback but only the lake side of the bridge, but I usually do my fishing on the sons creek side and other than driving over the bridge from Springfield, don't know much about the fishing . Hear it's good for eyes in the spring, but never seem to get over there. I am more concerned of how long of a float that would be. I'm sure it doesn't take more than one day, and probably isn't more than an afternoon, but I'd hate to get started and get surprised. I'd be taking my son(16) and he's never floated before. I don't mind a bit of portaging, but it looks pretty clear on satellite maps and pics and it would give us something new to do together. I've floated Spring River and the Buffalo River in Arkansas, but those were years ago and I'm a bit rusty and don't want to undertake anything that might get us in a bad situation. Anyways, thanks for the earlier replies and for any more that might follow.

i'd float it from O highway to 160 this time of year. theres a real good hole of water below O bout a half mile. you'll see a long bluff on the left hand side. ive caught some good eyes in their in the spring but a couple of the locals in greenfield say you can catch eyes in there year round. i just dont know how much portaging there will be but it might be worth a try.
