Hello All; I have been lucky enough to be here for 3 weeks and my trip is coming to an end. Today my foot pedal on the trolling motor just quit. Its a Motorguide. The motor runs on the on/off switch but none of the other controls on the pedal are working. Anybody out there have this happen to them? Can I just take the pedal in for repair? Who fixes trolling motors? Bass Pro? Thanks for any help you can be.

It sounds like the switch on the pedal is done or has lost a good connection. Should be pretty easy to fix. First, disconnect the TM from the battery. Next see if you can feel the switch. When you put your foot on it, there is a point where you will feel a click. If the click is there, tip over the foot pedal and take some pictures. Then look for loose wires. Most the time some wires have gotten a build up on them. If you find one, take a scotch bright pad or a fine sandpaper and clean it and reconnect. Hope this helps.

If you want to save yourself some time and get back on the water ASAP, take it to Fred at Ulrich Marine in West Branson. He will take good care of you.

There's a rubber boot on the switch under the foot pedal. Sometimes they come off and it won't work. Otherwise lift the pedal and they're are a couple screws attaching the switch. Undo the screws and take the switch off and take it to a marine repair and they can tell you if the switch is bad. A new one is under 20 bucks. Good luck

Marine repair, though you wouldn't know it from their name, is a specialty trolling motor shop in Springfield, MO. Ulrich Marine has an excellent reputation as an all around great place for overall boat-related sales and service, located in West Branson, MO.

You will be in good hands with either of these folks.
