Table Rock Noob

I'm going to be spending this weekend on Table Rock. We are staying near Cape Fair. I've never been on Table Rock. We will be taking the kids out boating in the afternoons but early mornings and late evenings I was planning to fish. I'd like to get after the largemouth or walleye. I'm not looking for anyone's secret or secret spot but any general advice would be helpful. Thanks everyone.

I fished Sunday and Tuesday morning. I found spotted bass and walleye on the edges of flats where the flat was 22 to 28 feet deep and the channel was 40 feet or deeper. Look for a break on the break (something different about the edge).

Try crawdad jigs, finesse or shaky worms, or a vertical presentation such as drop shop or spoon.

Time spent with electronics before you start fishing will be worth it.

Great info, thanks!! I have Navionics on my iPad so I may look around for some potential spots to try before we even hit the water.

Also, I'm from Oklahoma where most of our lakes have really dirty water. I think I'm a pretty good Carolina rig fisherman but usually fish in less than 20 feet of water. With the clear, deep lake, my guess would be to use fluorocarbon line and to use a heavier weight, like 1/2 ounce or so. Is this correct? Thanks again guys.

I throw a c-rig quite a bit on TR, but up in the White river channel where the water clarity is somewhat stained. I use 1/2 or 3/8 oz weights, and FC mainline. Just check frequently for abrasion. I've started using Mojo weights for my sinker, they are very good at coming through cover and rocky bottoms.

I fished the Bridgeport area last week and did well on flats with a shallow crank and buzzbait plus caught some a little deeper off points and ditches with series 5 cranks. Nothing big but caught fish pretty consisten all day.

You may try bouncing a football jig pb&j colored with a net bait table rock red trailer. i did well this past weekend fri and sat on jigs, and if you can night fish i would highly recommend throwing a single spin after dark in 15 fow or less. I had a lot of keepers on a single spin after dark, also boated a 4.5lbs smallie. Good luck.

I moved over from Tulsa in 2002. I learned to fish differently. I use 10# and less line. I usually cannot reach the shoreline in a single cast and sometimes not in three casts. My spinner bait box has only 4 or 5 baits in it. My crank bait box is basically warts and trolling baits for walleye. I had to learn to present vertically. I fish jigs more than T-rigged worms. If I went back to fish Eufala or Oolagah, I would probably fare poorly. Of course, I have no desire to go fish those places anymore.

Well, only got to go out for about 2 hours thus morning. I boated 2. Nothing big. Caught them on a drop shot. About 15 ft.

I do have to give major props to Stan at Cape Fair Marina. I ran off and left my buzzbait box at home. Stan was sold out but took one off of his personal pole and gave it to me!! Incredible! I couldn't believe it. I'll be trying it in the morning. Thanks again Stan!!
