Things have reallydropped off for the wife and I on the crappie. Last Sat we managed 18 and yesterday only eight. All on brush piles around 10' deep. We beat the timber to death in the afternoon and only 2 small ones. Water temperature was running 84 to 86! Too bloody hot. Couldn't even mark many fish except once. Pulled up to a tree with a couple dozen fish on it. Immediately got into them. Caught 8 drum in 10 minutes. OH BOY, what a disappointment. Going to try further north on the lake next week, maybe the water (and air) temp won't be as hot. Good luck to all!!

I'm sure the crappie fishing has dropped off with the higher water temperature. However, jet ski season is still open until the Tuesday after Labor Day. And there is no limit either. I'm not really serious though. It's not the jet ski's fault, just some of the idiot drivers who don't care about anyone but themselves. When the water heats up like this I usually just fish my local creeks and rivers and leave the lakes alone until it cools off. There will still be plenty of fish left then. Tight lines everyone and I'll be up to the lake in the fall.

straw hat my crappie club will be up at ruark on aug2 to fish a night tournament. i'm thinking like you i think i'll go north down around hawker point and hit some brush and rock piles in a little deeper water, i was on pomme saturday and beat the timber to death back in a cove. we didnt mark any fish till we moved to a brushpile in 20fow on a main lake point. i ended up with 9 most of 10in range. we had one decent crappie 11 1/2 but it sure was awful slow and we worked hard for what we got.
