J-Doc Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I thought you said it was a trash fish and were going to throw it away... You just have to restore ancient things don't ya, lol. Are you taking a stab at my old boat? Are you saying that she's "ancient"? Is that what you're saying??? (my poke at Goodfellas) Yes, I was going to throw it back in the lake and decided to be better than that and take it out of the lake and throw it in the trash. I just couldn't do it. The reel was toast but the rod cleaned up OK and as long as the eyes on the rod are not going to fray a line, I figured I can sand down the cork and apply some tape can call it a "backup plan". :-) THe poor rod may be cursed......we will see. J-Doc Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I do have a lot of respect and love for older boats, antique baits, and generally.....old stuff. I respect where we have come from to where we are now. The differences are amazing. Plus old boats are just cool in my mind. Especially when they are restored to use and appear in great condition. This wasn't old. It was just junk! Like I said..........will make a decent catfish rod. If it breaks..........I'll laugh! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Feathers and Fins Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Junk is in the eye of the beholder. that rod could have been a kids first rod and caught his first fish a scrappy little bluegill on it and it was the most priceless thing in the world to him. Then a big bad striper came along and stole that childs dream pole from him and sunk it to the bottom of the giant lake. Now it has been found again and it is your duty to restore it to its original beauty and pride and search out that young child and present him the rod Like the Phoenix rising from the flames the Mighty Dimes STORE ROD HAS RISEN FROM THE DEPTHS AND IS READY FOR ACTION AND DREAMS AGAIN. Members marknsaw Posted August 2, 2013 Members Posted August 2, 2013 Hey J-Doc There's a couple ole Zebcos hanging out around horseshoe bend if you feel like trolling them up Sorry for the edit ....but a funny story... One of those Zebbies was my daughters. I took her out perch jerking one weekend. After catching numerous amounts of gills, the bobber went down, she set the hook, and whatever was on the other end of the line took the pole straight out of her hands. I had a hard time comforting her while I was laughing my backside off!
J-Doc Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 LOL! No thanks! :-) Zebcos just ain't what they were when I was a kid and I have finally out grown those style reels. lol Need marine repair?
