Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 That would be interesting, a private football league for kids coming out of college.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Not coming out of but going in to. From High School to College. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Just re-read my post, I meant to say coming out of high school into the new league. If the NCAA doesn't get their act together, I could see something like this happening. As I said before there's just too much money sloshing around.
Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Of course the NFL will have to participate in this new league concept. Or the NFL could start drafting high school seniors, like MLB does. The NFL could set up a minor league, teams draft HS kids and put them in the minor league for development. Kids drafted would then have a choice, sign a contract to play in the minor league/NFL or accept a scholarship and play college ball. Pretty much how college baseball works now.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm always ready. As far as the money, BS, the rules are well known and have been around for a long time. The idea of college ball is to get a scholarship that allows a player to get a degree, period. The fact that a small number go on to make a career out of it shouldn't screw it up for all those that simply get their degree and move on. Thousands of players play by the rules and if "Johnny Football" is as smart as he thinks he is he knew going in he was on thin ice. I hope he gets spanked hard. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Wayne the NCAA has known about this for over 7 months and just now its coming out. That to me sounds very strange that right before season this supposed rule infraction is surfacing. Hate to say it but 7 months and nothing said then a couple weeks before season this all breaks in the news, I smell a rat. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Could be a rat out there. It's not good for NCAA football to have them ban Johnny. Like the guy or not, he'll put fans in the stands and generate TV viewership.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 NCAA doesn't care about the player or school only that they look like they are beyond reproach or they wouldn't have handed Penn a sentence worse than death. Hate to say it but the NCAA only cares about how they look to keep the money rolling in is my opinion. They had no business involved in Penn State IMO and waiting 7 months with this is just more reason I wish we had another option for people. I understand the NFL rules for three years after High School and agree with why they say it. At the same time I wish there was the other option that allowed these athletes to make money off their names. Funny a 18 year old kid can go to any other sport no college and make money but not football. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I could list a lot of instances where the NCAA either overstepped or more often, punished the wrong people, but that doesn't mean they are always wrong either. I'm not sure why the 7 months is a problem? They would have caught H if they had jumped too quick also. Bottom line is this is a case where he challenged the rules because he thinks he was above it and they can put the punishment load on his shoulders. It's not his first questionable action that reflected on college ball, the Heisman and his team. He needs to grow up and maybe if they spank him hard he will. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Quillback Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Hard spanking will just send him to the NFL. That's another problem with NCAA "justice", the players just move on, in the case of the star players just jump to the NFL. Meanwhile the school and it's fans are stuck with the sanctions.
