Justin Spencer Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Okay so the river still looks like crap!! Maybe run up till it gets clean. 35 miles up maybe. Worst fishing summer I've seen in years. Hopefully it stays dirty all gigging season. This water should make it the best gigging season in years, will be plenty of water to get where ever giggers want to go. LittleRedFisherman Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Fall is my favorite time to fish. I enjoy hunting , but catching nice smallies and walleyes on the Meramec amid cool temperatures and blazing fall colors cannot be beat! Besides my place in wildwood is overun with %!#! poachers. Chasing them off is a full time job. Ruins the whole experience of hunting anymore. I'm there with ya, I've traded in a lot of hunting time in the winter for fishing even, but I've always said, I like to hunt, but I love to fish!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
ozark trout fisher Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 That is the way it is for me to. Hunting is a hobby for me-fishing is a lot more than that. I do try to deer hunt a couple weekends in November but if it comes between fishing and hunting.......it's rarely a difficult choice. I can hardly count the number of times that I've gone down to the Ozarks with the intention to "scout" a place to hunt for deer season and ended up on a trout or smallmouth stream instead.
Hog Wally Posted August 22, 2013 Author Posted August 22, 2013 That's funny how each person is wired. I put my poles down and it's over! I don't have that fire in me again til jan 15 is over. I used to trap, fish, hunt and even got into archaeology for a long stretch of time. Then kids. I love them. I nuisance hunt deer in the county and I have to put my all into it.
