Guest Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/flooding-rain-not-over-for-cen/16313963 I hope its stops raining soon. We cant handle much more of it.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hollister, MO south of Branson got over 8 inches in one hour. The College of the Ozarks airport collected 9 inches in 2 hours. They say Turkey Creek rose almost 12 feet. Mobile homes swept away... 200 people evacuated. http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-flash-flood-emergency-in-effect-for-hollister-area-20130808,0,2529387.story Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
stlfisher Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Just an insane amount of rain in one weeks time over the same area. Up near STL It has been pretty dry except for a thundershower today. I have only had a couple inches of rain at my house since mid June. Feast or famine seems like the norm these days.
Lancer09 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 SW MO has just seen a stupid amount. Like it's crazy for real.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I just drove over to Hollister. That town is demolished. Many businesses just totally ruined... they really got nailed... the amount of water is unfathomable. I totally believe the amount of water after seeing it firsthand... looks like the creek did rise somewhere near 15 feet. Terrierman Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 It's been tough on a lot of people. It does seem like more either drought or flood lately. Snow in May or jonquils in January. We were talking at work this morning about how people would drive on the ice from Hollister to Branson in Model T's before Table Rock went in. Those days are long past.
Guest Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Round 2 is here. Severe thunderstorms are beginning to fire up along the frontal boundary. It could be a long night for some folks.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I think it might be a real winter https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 That town is demolished. Many businesses just totally ruined On old 65? I've had a little over 9" in the last period of storms. 4.5 was the most in one storm. We're in a rainless hole, if that makes sense, and we always get less than areas around us for some reason. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 More down in the town of Hollister.. across from the Post Office is Turkey Creek. It is the one that flooded hard. Any low lying areas were really affected. The Waste Water Treatment plant has R/R tracks that you have to cross to get to it.. the tracks were floating... in mid air... nothing underneath.
