Members Tangamanga Posted August 9, 2013 Members Posted August 9, 2013 I just moved to Springfield from California and decided to learn how to fish. I bought a couple of combos and some basic tackle. But I have no idea how to use any of it. I don't have any idea were to go fish. I'm looking for a buddy that will teach me at least the basics and make friends along the way. Can anyone help me?
Members WOZ Posted August 10, 2013 Members Posted August 10, 2013 I just relocated from Oregon and in the St. Louis area so Springfield is a bit far to connect for us. New to this forum as well but these folks are very good at responding so hold on to your hat and hopefully you'll connect with someone closer to you. Welcome to the forum! And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth. Then he made the earth round...... And he laughed and laughed and laughed....
Kee sims Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 There's a lot of fun little spots around here to fish. The James river is usually good for smallies, and Springfield lake is pretty close. Gets a lot of pressure. Fellows lake never had much luck there but others do! The Finley is close by. And of course table rock lake, Stockton, taneycomo , bull shoals.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 10, 2013 Root Admin Posted August 10, 2013 There are fishing clubs in the Springfield area - trout, bass, fly fishing, spin fishing... most have fishing outings and tournaments, classes, fly tying sessions. http://smff_fff.tripod.com/ here's one.

Members Tangamanga Posted August 10, 2013 Author Members Posted August 10, 2013 Thank you for the info Phil, however I wasn't able to enter into the link that you suggested. Can you verify it and provide it to me again. Thanks.
John Andrews Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I bass fish at Springfield lake and do very well. If you have a kayak, canoe or small boat, I can show you a few spots that really produce some good numbers. The bank fishing spots a pretty much a waste of time.
Members Tangamanga Posted August 13, 2013 Author Members Posted August 13, 2013 I don't have a canoe or kayak. Perhaps in the future. Thank you for the offer.
