Members moose50 Posted December 29, 2005 Members Posted December 29, 2005 just want to point out that what i said prviously about geting one mounted it would be that one only. i dont have any fish hanging on my walls as it is. i understand some are against it and thats fine with me. but if i do catch a biggie and i dont mean a 20" i will probly get it mounted, the replicas i have seen really arent that great in my opinion if anyone has any sites realated to replicas i would be more than willing to check it out. but like i said the big one would be on my wall. after that if i ever do catch another one it would be c&r except for the lil buggers ya eat. thats how i stand on the subject, i dont really consider myself a head hunter and dont want that reputation on here. i love taneycomo and dont think anyone should go there to get a trophy every year, catch one ya but dont keep it if you already have a hanger at home.

crappiefisherman Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I must have this fishing thing all wrong.I GO TO ENJOY MYSELF, who cares if someone looks at me silly. I fish for the soothing powers nature has on a stressed soul.I betcha the eyeballer is too worried about how hes gonna make the payment on his new escalade to enjoy what the lord has given .Oh and i have 3 kids that eat like horses so when i fish I want to bring some home to enjoy.I do not condone short fish in any shape or form but just cause it aint a wall hanger dont mean it cant be ate.Just wish there were bigger crappie in Taneycomo [ [
Members knuck Posted December 30, 2005 Members Posted December 30, 2005 Great reply Phil. jscheetz it is amazing how quickly a persons hackles can be raised over conservation issues as the above mentioned. I will concede the fact there was not a direct link between the two. From all of porochi's posts I have read he seems like a conscientious fisherman,my take on his comments were that he would prefer not to confront slob fisherman directly.but make a simple phone call to the proper authorities. There was a correlation made between fish taken legally and the extinction of a species ,or else we totally jumped topics somewhere. I believe anyone that takes the time to become a legal fisherman/hunter etc. and learn the rules and regs. has the proper "attitude". After reading some of these posts it just sounds like there are those who believe they stand on higher moral ground than most. How about we just enjoy the fishing and play by the rules.
gonefishin Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Knuck: My sentiments exactly. I have enjoied this 'spirited' conversation and it has been good to discuss the topic where people can express their opinion without anyone getting nasty about it however, it is time to move on. To that end I have already started another topic and am abandoning this one. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. jscheetz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 hehehe spirited debate is awesome! But ya'll gotta lighten up a bit! I did assume that when P. said he wouldn't say a thing if they were netting them in the trophy area and keeping 10 dozen - that he had a sense of humor about it. And when I wrote that that same attitude is well documented of the hundreds of people that used to go watch thousands of pigeons be shot - it was a bit of sarcastic wit as well. Maybe not the best, but hey, it's a hard job! So a sense of humor on the board is fun and can also be a good way to make a point, but if we all have our defenses up - guess it won't work. Guess I should have stuck more smilies in my posts. But if you agree to let all your trout go - I won't bring up the Black-Footed ferret (humor) ^ JS "We are living in the midst of a Creation that is mostly mysterious - that even when visible, is never fully imaginable". -Wendell Berry-
jscheetz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Bet you'd put one on a stringer if you could. JS "We are living in the midst of a Creation that is mostly mysterious - that even when visible, is never fully imaginable". -Wendell Berry-
gonefishin Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Do you pan fry or bake Ferret? I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
jscheetz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 For you they'd be best "stuffed"!!! JS "We are living in the midst of a Creation that is mostly mysterious - that even when visible, is never fully imaginable". -Wendell Berry-
