Luck, Chance, Karma? You Decide..

A few days ago I was fishing a steep bank (located in racoon hollow cove for those of u that may know where this is). I was using a extra deep diving crankbait produced by strike king. After about 30 minutes or so I was getting tired as using one of those things requires cranking like its going out of style. Anyways I told myself, as many of us probably do " alright one more cast". I heaved the wooly mammoth of a lure one more time, yanking it back in parallel to the bank in about 22 feet of water when suddenly I felt something pulling my line. I could tell it was a good bass and when I got it to the surface it did not disappoint. My initial estimate was somewhere around 20 inches and 4 to 4.5 lbs. Not a monster but a good bass for sure here at the loto. I forgot my net at the dock that day and tried grabbing the line to pull it in. I will never do that again as the line snapped dropping my prized catch and 15$ lure in its lip back to the abyss. After a short prayer in which I swore if that fish somehow swims back w/I arms reach of the boat I would become a monk, I began another prayer w/ regards to needing forgiveness for all the 4 letter words I just taught the boy standing on the dock near me. I eventually moved on to another lure. After about another half hour I texted my mom and asked her if she wanted to go for a quick cruise before she headed home that afternoon. She said she would indeed enjoy a cruise so I told her I'd make a few more casts then head home. As soon as I finished texting her this, I put my phone in my pocket and noticed something shiny floating In the water next to my boat. It was my crankbait which I had lost probably half a mile behind me. The next day I went right back to the same spot and after only a few casts managed to get in the boat this time with a net, a 20.5 inch, 4 lb 5oz largemouth!

Can't tell you how many times I've broken fish off on WTD baits, crankbaits, and floating flyrod contraptions and had the fish come up and give it back. I actually wait for it after a breakoff and have seldom been shorted. Bass are really good at shaking an unattached (by line) lure off their face.

Only problem is if it's a sinking lure you won't get it back....but he will come up, repeatedly if he has to, and shake it off nearly every single time.

Birdwatcher, I do have pictures of the fish I caught. I have tried uploading but they are apparently larger than the max limit of 200 kb. Do u know of any other way I could post them? Thx.

You can put them on an image hosting site like photobucket or flickr both are free to a certain level of data usage. I use Flickr. I pay 10$ a year for unlimited. That way my photos are in cloud storage in case something happens to my computer or phone.

You can also use dropbox and a number of others.

Once you have them there, all you have to do is grab the html code from the image and you can embed it in a post.
