Members two old poops fishing Posted August 26, 2013 Members Posted August 26, 2013 use boat two to three times a week maybe run motor (200 verado) hour or so each time out sometimes more sometimes less 3000 to 3500 rpm seldom more probably 8 months of the year question is do i need to change oil every year i am not using synthetic does oil have a shelf life have been changing filter and all but wondering if it is needed thanks for feed back two old poops fishing
fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It's a good idea to change it periodically even if you have low actual running hours on it since 4-stroke outboards CAN get water/fuel/pollen in the oil. Besides, once a year (every Fall ) whether it needs it or not should give you some peace of mind. Do the gearcase at the same time.
