It has been reported on Dawt Mill's FB page that the dam is now not holding water and will need to be repaired. Is there anyway to voice oppostion to reparing the dam to govering authorities? I'm sure that the dam is their property but they will still need DNR and possibly Corps of Engineers permits to make these repairs. Is anyone else interested in being able to float this stretch without this impediment? The dam was originally for the functing of an operating mill which is not the case anymore and it is just a barrier to floater which only benefits the outfitter there that won't even let you use their ramp.

Some folks are already on it...will let them chime in...Think there needs to be a passage for floaters at the very least, especially since they have their boat ramp gated off like its Guantanamo...

I don't think they should be allowed to "fix" anything else down there. Looks like they have done enough.

Someone told me they are required to keep it in good repair, not sure why. As it is now, swimmers keep getting sucked through it and someone will get hurt. I would love to see a slot for boats to go through.

I can understand that Justin. It has to be safe for their guests.

But I don't have to like them or their guests or anyone else who thinks a karaoke bar belongs that close to a river. They are part of the problem.

I don't think they should be able to repair it, it's no longer relevant to their operation and is an unnecessary obstruction. As far as swimmers, If they can't read a sign they shouldn't be swimming or allowing their charges too.

Justin does the doc still own it?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I do not want to see the dam repaired. A trackhoe could remove this barrier in short order. The folks that own Dawt Mill could have allowed safe passage all along. They chose the path of attempting to obstruct passage down the river.

My great grandfathers helped construct the dam with public money. They did not build it for the sole use of a rich guy.

I called the MDC in West Plains this morning. They stated it was private property and had no athority to deny or approve the dam. However I was told I would not be able to start construction on my new dam on the North Fork of the White.

It's probably a waste of time to call anyone. Obviously someone who spends half a million dollars for a party cove on the river is connected politically anyway.

He does. I believe he is required to fix it, maybe the corps of engineers oversees it.
