I'm located in Springfield and have been hitting the James at Creighton Access, Delaware Town and above Spfd Lake.

Do you think Fly fisherman are smarter? Haven't decided yet, if you have cut back on Golf to do this then yes I think that is smarter

Have any 30$ Japanese Jerkbaits? No slowly building a little tackle up but this seems eXtreme

Have you ever fried up a smallmouth? Yes, but am not a big fish eater, more a catch and release kinda guy

Ever been gigging? Yes, years ago down around Hooten Town and had a blast.

You'll do just fine then. Can't help you with the James River, but someone will be along shortly that can. If not, you might post this over in the James River forum for better luck. There's a few guys on here that fish it on the regular.
