Members Dougie Posted September 9, 2013 Members Posted September 9, 2013 I am yet another new Kayak owner that is ready to get out there and enjoy all the beauty that my beloved Ozarks has to offer. Any tips you care to share with the noob on where to go and what to throw will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing and happy paddling and fishing to all!

Members Fish Ogre Posted September 13, 2013 Members Posted September 13, 2013 A belated welcome to you. If you tell us where you are located, maybe someone can offer you some advice. "Joy to the fishes..."
Quillback Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Welcome! You'll probably get more of a response on what to use etc., if you ask in one of the location or topic specific sub-forums.
Bird Watcher Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Hi Dougie. Do you bait? Are you a hoosier? Do you think Fly fisherman are smarter? Have any 30$ Japanese Jerkbaits? Have you ever fried up a smallmouth? Ever been gigging? Welcome to the forum.
Members Dougie Posted September 14, 2013 Author Members Posted September 14, 2013 Alright that's more like it! Thanks for the welcome guys I'm located in Springfield and have been hitting the James at Creighton Access, Delaware Town and above Spfd Lake. Redear Sunfish...... Do you bait? Only when my wife is mad at me ) Are you a hoosier? Nope Mizzou Fan Do you think Fly fisherman are smarter? Haven't decided yet, if you have cut back on Golf to do this then yes I think that is smarter Have any 30$ Japanese Jerkbaits? No slowly building a little tackle up but this seems eXtreme Have you ever fried up a smallmouth? Yes, but am not a big fish eater, more a catch and release kinda guy Ever been gigging? Yes, years ago down around Hooten Town and had a blast.
bfishn Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Dang, you got all 12 steps in one fell swoop. Welcome. I can't dance like I used to.
Bird Watcher Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 You'll do just fine then. Can't help you with the James River, but someone will be along shortly that can. If not, you might post this over in the James River forum for better luck. There's a few guys on here that fish it on the regular.
