405z06 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I didn't catch the comment about the spots in the original post. That is wierd. FWIW, I fished Scott's Ford to Indian Springs the week before and we didn't catch a single spot. As a matter a fact, I don't think I have ever caught a spot in that stretch. I will occasionally catch one around Onondaga, but it's still pretty rare.
Al Agnew Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 The little devils can show up in some odd places, but just don't thrive in the spring water influence. Mitch, if that was a cold weather fish it was probably one that migrated up to the spring. I sure wouldn't expect them to be there in the summer. By the way, the tooth patch on the tongue isn't a very good ID...about 10-20% of largemouths in some waters have tooth patches. The spots have been scattered in the river from Scott Ford down to Meramec State Park for many years now, but seem to remain a minor part of the bass population in that stretch. They start to get a lot thicker around the park, and continue to increase the farther down you go.
