Wayne SW/MO Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Well after the match up between Leonard's Love and the Broncho's, do the Chiefs have a better chance then first thought? The Raiders put points on them and defense has been a big part of the Broncho's strength. ??? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Flysmallie Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 If the secondary can cover them then maybe they could challenge them for a win in Arrowhead. But I think Denver is going to be tough for anyone to beat. I was surprised by Chokeland, of course one of those scores came in the last couple of minutes once all the damage had been done. Â Â
ozark trout fisher Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Good luck to the Chiefs. You all may stay close at Arrowhead (with an upset a remote possibility.) But if you want to do that you better score 35-40 points. As long as Manning is healthy, I think that's what it's going to take to hang with the Broncos this season. Many of those yards the Raiders got were given up well after the game was decided (well, that's kinda unfair since the game was already decided 5 minutes in for all intents and purposes.) Philly will be an interesting test next week. I think the only way to beat Denver is to just plain outscore them 45-41 or something (even good defenses like the Ravens have shown us are unlikely to slow this team down.) Philly may have a chance if Vick can play efficiently.
Flysmallie Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Philly may have a chance if Vick can play efficiently. Philly has ZERO chance of winning this game. Hasn't everyone seen enough of Chip's team to realize that it is going nowhere fast. If they can't beat the Chiefs in their own stadium they have no chance against the Broncos in Denver. They should just stay home and save the embarrassment. Â Â
ozark trout fisher Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Well I'm working on the principle that it's a good idea to talk up an opponent the week of a game. That way a win feels impressive and it's easier to excuse a loss....but I hope you're right.
Flysmallie Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 The NFL power rankings have dropped Philly to #20. Denver still sits at the top since week 1. The problem for Philly isn't Vick, even though he sucks. This week it will be Chip's entire offense. That fast hurry up 100% of the time offense isn't going to work so well in Denver. It's not necessarily about Denver's D stopping them, it's about the air stopping them. They will be gassed early, kind of like Chip's NFL coaching career. Â Â
Justin Spencer Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Anything is possible, heck remember when the Chiefs beat Green Bay. Denver is much better than KC, butour defense is turning people over so who knows. We better at least split with Joakland, hope we sweep, but division games are tough. Quillback Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 If there's any silver lining as far as Chiefs vs Denver, it is that the Chiefs don't play them until 11/17. Maybe by then they'll be a little more used to Reids offence and they'll be playing like a well oiled machine. (Yeah right). KC's defence has played well so far, hopefully they can keep the Bronks from scoring too many points, if the Chiefs are in catch up mode that will be a problem, Smith is just not a good enough QB to engage in a shoot out with the Bronks.
ozark trout fisher Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 In my opinion the biggest problem with the Eagles and Chip Kelly's offense in the NFL is what the fast paced offense does to the defense. The 1 minute long possessions do not give them any time to catch their breath.....so they get gashed for 30 points every week. The offense might continue to do okay but they are going to need to score a lot of points most weeks to even keep it close. They will get hot some games and shock a few superior teams.....but is it sustainable over 16 games? Probably not. They may be able to scrape their way up to 8-8 in a weak division (which admittedly would be a nice improvement) but that looks like the ceiling. And not just for this year but probably long term. Their ONLY chance is to get someone like Russell Wilson who can do what Vick does, only better and while taking care of the ball. They are not a team that will usually be able to survive turnovers given their porous defense. If he's available and Chip Kelly insists on sticking with his system, they should (IMO) look to Johnny Manziel in the draft. He is a great fit for what they're trying to do. I think he would give them a better chance week in and week out than Vick.
Quillback Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Another problem I see with the Eagles approach is QB survivability, Vick has been knocked pretty hard already. They might need Manziel AND Vick to make it through a season.
