LostMyWife Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 LMW, I'm listed twice. Which one of me should show up? Just plain old boring Don (the clone) or Don with chops (the real dude)? I guess I'll do both and show with chops after I leave once. I'm looking forward to the social and some good cooking. I'll try to fish some in the afternoon. Do you think it will be crowded? Merry Christmas.....Don Well, I put you on twice because you said you'd bring the chops. That deserves a double billing. Look that way. If the weather is good, there could be a nice gathering. No one has said anything about bringing beer. This will be the fist time I have been to a gathering with this many guys, let alone fisherman and not a beer in the bunch, not even a mention of alcohol of any kind. I know that bass fisherman occasionally have a cold one, and we catfisherman drink like the fish we catch. Are fly fisherman that different? LMW Yes, I'm That Guy
Rusty Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 LMW Think about the issues us fly fishers would have if we drank while fly fishing. With people walking through the seams we fish, and with the shufflers. It would give combat fishing a all new name.
LostMyWife Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 You're right. Plus the fly casting motion of the arm, elbow and wrist are in total contradiction to those used to get a beer from the table to the mouth and successfully down the gullet. Why, that would be worse than a major leaguer playing slow pitch softball. Yes, I'm That Guy
Flysmallie Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I have yet to find a vest that has a beer holder built in. But I have managed in the past no problems. If the weather isn't horrible I will have beer with me, I just can't help it. I still have some of those old bass fisherman ways. Plus, I've got the Johnny Walker Red that LMW special ordered. Â Â
jjtroutbum Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 This guy has been known to keep a flask, and well a flask is only as good as the stashed bottle that filled it. LostMyWife Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 In my natural fishing setting, (sitting on a lake all night), I hace a small Jon Deere tractor, that pulls a trailer, that carries a cooler, that contains at least a 6 pack of beer and a nice comfortable chair to sit in. I rigged the trailer with 4 rod holders. I can sit all night and fish. If I catch, cool,if not, oh well. But I have to say I rarely get skunked in this areana. Catfish and Carp are a little more my cup of tea. But we'll see. Yes, I'm That Guy

Danoinark Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 LMW and others I want to say thank you for the prayers and concern about my mom. She is out of the ICU and in a private room now. She has improved, but very weak and still somewhat confused at times. Her docs feel confident she will mend fine. They will start some rehab, walking, etc as soon as she gains more strength. My presence at the NYD event of course is predicated on her situation, but right now I feel confident I can make it, if at least for most of the activity. May each and everyone of our OAF brothers and sisters be blessed during this most holy season. Peace to all. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
