Guest Brian B. Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Not many folks know of Pyramid State Park on here, but many should, as many in SE Missouri are very close. Not gonna bore you with a full site summary, but if you have heard of it and were curious about it you need to get down there right now- for one the bass should be gorging themselves.. And two the majority of the park closes for winter Oct 31. Wish I could sneak out but it's just not gonna happen. Would gladly share lakes and descriptions if I get a (vicarious..) fishing report. (Park has roughly 40ish lakes, some massive, some tiny, little bit of everything there. If you live anywhere close to Perryville MO/ Chester Illinois you really should be crossing over and fishing this park, it is something else.) Two more weekends till they shut down. Oct 31st last day of 2013 to legally fish.
Greasy B Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Been a regular for about 25 years. Anymore it's only for spring and early summer Bluegill. In all these years I probably haven't fished more than 10% of the water. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. jdmidwest Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Don't they allow waterfowl hunting after it closes? Never fished it, but watched waterfowl loafing around. Guest Brian B. Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Greasy- PM sent JD Sparta WSC has two really good fishing lakes, East Lake, the larger lake- and then Derby Lake, the smaller lake. Derby. Is the gem of the two, really good bass fishing, good crappie fishing, and IDNR stocks. Trout in the cooler months- and they do pretty well in there. Pyramid (IMO) is a hunting park that just so happens to. Allow fishing in the off season. Yes- they allow hunting there and I have made the mistake of hunting opening weekend of duck season last fall in one of the few lakes. You can fish all winter. (The behavior out there gets kinds piss poor, doubt you would want to hunt it if you have any other alternative- based just upon what I witnessed in one day- it was a pretty loose operation from what I saw- bunch of non sportsmanlike behavior hunter to hunter, boater to hunter, hunter to fisherman..)
