Pepe Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I been playing in the Skunkworks (my garage) and made up these swinging hook jigs. The small "finesse" jigs (1/8 & 3/16 oz) have thin-wire 2/0 hooks, the medium ones (1/4 & 5/16 oz) have 3/0 thin-wire hooks and the larger (3/8 & 7/16 oz) jigs have heavy-gage Gamakatsu 4/0 hooks. I just hope there is still a jig bite by the time I get back to the lake
MOsmallies Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Awesome looking and a ton more size options than the Biffle Hardheads and Chompers Wobbleheads! Very cool! This garage of yours seems like a fisherman's heaven
Pepe Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 I'll send you a few. I have the eyes on your swimbaits but still have to seal them. Hope to finish tomorrow and mail them.
Pepe Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 My friend dubbed it the "Big Tick". I just recently figured out how to make the claws and tentacles a different color. Hopefully it will work well on the swing hook jig?
Guest Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Looks like a winner for sure! My favorite style of jig for fishing ledges.
Quillback Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 My friend dubbed it the "Big Tick". I just recently figured out how to make the claws and tentacles a different color. Hopefully it will work well on the swing hook jig? I would think so, I've had good luck with Megabugs and Biffle Bugs on the swing hook setup. A good Megabug color for low light conditions is black/blue fleck body with blue appendages.
Pepe Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 The official bait tester selecting the next item. "Look Gam-pa, it swims" :}
Old plug Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 It is something different but i am a bit concerned about what it will do to the action. I impart all the action myself. Sometimes they are very slight. I think that might make it harder to maintain the desired control.
Pepe Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I think the idea is to fish this jig along the bottom pretty fast, just bumping it along at a pretty steady rate letting the bait move around a lot.
