Ham Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Foggy and 33' when I launched the boat. I got fishing a hair before 0900. I fished downriver. Water was falling out as I fished. They ran heavy water > 10K for three hours the previous night and knocked a bunch of crap loose. I fished an hour without a bite. NOT GOOD. I eventually got enough light to see how trashy the water was and to adjust to the bad conditions. I probably should have relocated up river where most of the loose crap would have flushed down. For better or worse, I chose to stay put and going it out. I was really happy when I finally got one in the boat. I had planned to catch > 100, but I knew that was out of the question once I saw the suspended trash in the water. Only muddy water is worse. The wind was also higher than forecast and blew me up river. That really stinks. I managed to work small protected areas for numbers of fish. They bit well in areas with cleaner water. I finished with 51 fish caught. Not many good fish. I had a handful in the 15 inch range. All but one came on a Zig Jig. I gave up on my usual olive colors and went with Brown/Orange , White, and solid Ginger. I did get another another OMT 84 UL. I matched it with Nanofil 6lb on a new Quantum spinning reel. Sweet combo. According to Jeff at Global Dorber. They made 8 of the OMT 84 UL's in this batch and all of them were spoken for already. My response was "make more". They have a hard time making the blanks because of previous commitments to make other blanks for other companies. Beautiful day, but kinda cool on the water. That was a cool breeze coming off the water for sure. I quit fishing around 1500. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
hoglaw Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 We opted to float the norfork this weekend with the boat in the shop. Floated from 9 to 4 and had a great day yesterday. I think we managed 40 between us, but we had a number of very nice fish. They were seriously fat and happy. Caught a few on the fly rod but jigs and panther Martins in the catch and release area took all of the big fish. It was a beautiful day. We went up to white hole last night just to look around with the flashlight and saw some giants working the shallow water by the ramp.
Ham Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I really think the Norfork is fishing better than the White and I want to fish it, but logistics are holding me back. Glad y'all had a good trip. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I'm looking forward to it LRF! I hope we can make it happen in November, but if I have to wait until December, I can deal with it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
BFTMASTER Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Sounds like someone needs to sneak up to that boat ramp @ white hole with some streamers one night. (Don't forgot to leave the flashlight at home)
LittleRedFisherman Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm looking forward to it LRF! I hope we can make it happen in November, but if I have to wait until December, I can deal with it. You never know, but if it keeps raining, guess I could sneak up on one of the rainouts, but after a stretch of averaging 17 hours a day, kinda wore out. Guess I could tough it out for some good fishing!! If weather cooperates, can still get done before thanksgiving. I'm ready for some winter fishing!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

LittleRedFisherman Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 17 hours days SUCKS. Your boss is a slave driver. Lol, self inflicted Ham, I am the boss!! It's my only payday of the year, so you make hay while the suns shining!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I certainly understand that. My Mom grew up on a diary farm. They worked a whole lot of long hard days. They sold milk, but they grew most of there veggies and their meat. I've got a lot of patience when it comes to fishing. I'll be ready to go when you get a chance.
