I have not heard of Hazel's campground, but sounds interesting to me. Hwy 47 was nice for me...especially during the week since I could run down for a few hours after work during the summer time. It tended to be a zoo on the weekends though. The whole area takes a beating from poachers which is unfortunate since it is super convenient for me. Maybe this is the year I finally cave and get yak or canoe and check out the Big.

Joe you are right not much I can do or will do. Just really curious if it was just some yahoo who put up signs. I thought roads/bridge were public easements...and the parking at 47 was the safest/easiest IMO.

Looks to me like highway department signs at 47. Could be the Kingston Ranch people have friends in MODOT. It will be interesting to see how much the signs are enforced. I would suspect the hoosiers that litter the place on weekends will test the waters next summer.

Hazel's Campground is on the north side of the stream, something like 4 miles below F if I remember correctly. I've never used it.

I parked on 47 last year but just went up the road (maybe 1/4 mile) so I was not close to the signs. The shoulder is very wide and accommodating so I figured I would be okay. No one bothered (ticketed) the car but it was only one time, I may of just got lucky.

MF used to be best kept spot around. No problem parking yet. I do chain my canoe up if I leave it unattended during shuttle. Put in at 47 floated to mammoth last of August. Seen five other wade fisherman ( one Sasquatch guy in float tube hole jumping) on a stinking Tuesday WoW. Three where minnow drowners.

The MF has Too much pressure from catch n eaters. In 1998 I caught 99 smallies and 8 of them were 17 inchers. Just makes me sick! I don't see it improving unless better enforcement and the regs change.

Yep...it was even pretty spectacular about four years ago when I floated it with my brother the last of August and we caught a bunch of 17-19 inchers, but the last couple of years it's been really down.
