Champ188 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Wayne, in re-reading my own message, I may have come across a bit strong. I have some limited experience in running tournaments myself plus I'm 53 and have fished them since I was 18. You have a dirty job and not only do I not envy you, I appreciate you and others who go to the effort to promote and run tournaments for the rest of us. Same goes for Donna. There is a place for low-entry fee tournaments but the guys who enter them (myself included) have to realize that the payout is completely controlled by number of entries times the amount of entry fee. If you only pay a $50 entry fee, you aren't gonna be competing for a pile of prize money. They also need to realize that you are running a local arm of a national circuit and that the 70 percent payback is set by USA Bassin' and not you. So anyone out there with a mind to complain to Wayne about this is shooting the messenger. Donna and I will look at your schedule and may be able to make a tournament or two. Good luck in your efforts this year.
Members WayneB Posted November 29, 2013 Author Members Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks Champ, I try to make this trail enjoyable to fish, I'll be the first to admit there is a lot of good sticks in Missouri and a lot of fishermen that can bag a win in a tournament. But if the fishermen know the entry fee is set low and the payout is base on the number of boats they don't fish. Number 1 problem, Don't show up to fish causes less boats less payout. Number 2 problem, Low entry fee low payback. How to fix; Pay $90.00 Entry$50.00, Big Bass$10.00, Side Pot$30.00 20 boats = 1st, $320.00 Minus - $90.00 = $230.00 Plus Big Bass = $200.00 Plus Side Pot = Take out $5.00 second big bass leaves $500.00 70/30 = $350.00 You just made $780.00 off a $90.00 entry 20 boat field pays out 4 places To me this $90.00 fee a low entry just made me this kind of money.
rangerz21 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Your right Champ Wayne and his wife have there hands tied. They came up to Truman Lake and i know didn't cover there expenses. So for that i would like to thank them for doing that. Great People a lot of work just so we can do something that we enjoy. The last fall event was windy and they knew that attendance would be low but they still drove up and put it on Thanks Wayne
Members WayneB Posted December 23, 2013 Author Members Posted December 23, 2013 Thanks Guys. My wife and I started this circuit in Missouri going on 7 years now this coming 2014. We had no intention of making a lot of money. We enjoyed putting these tournaments on for the fishermen and USA Bassin it's been a roller coaster since we started. I can't guaranteed how many boats will show up each tournament but I can guaranteed my wife and I will be there to put them on. Think about this $50.00 entry plus $10.00 Big Bass is not a lot but we added a $30.00 side pot. If you read the thread above and see what kind of money the fishermen are putting in their pockets to me making that kind of money off $90.00 is worth it. This circuit is design for the average fishermen if you plan on making a living off fishing then I suggest to become a pro. I'm not out here to bash the fishermen but look at your tournaments before you fish them and get an ideal what you are getting into at each tournament. This being said it sounds like I'm pushing away the fishermen to fish this circuit, HECK NO. I will say the fishermen that has fish this circuit was very pleased in the Divisions and Regionals in Missouri. USA Bassin design this circuit for fishermen that like to fish and get in a tournament at lower levels its not design to cost a boat load of money to fish. Lets get to the money part, I have nothing to hide we make $5.00 a boat, 20 boats=$100.00. Gas = $30.00 Meals= $20.00 for three a lot of times there 4 of us Hotel = $60.00 Product =$60.00 we buy for every tournament that's 15 tournaments Do you hear any of us %#*#& about the money? NO and NO Have are altitudes been negative about doing this? NO We enjoyed the smiles and getting together with you all, there's no price on this. You will see us making a day of fishing for the fishermen fun. I'll step down off the box now but you can count on us in 2014 being there for you guys.
Bassmaster21 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Is the $50 entry fee per person or per pair? And is there a place I could see a schedule of events? Thanks
Members WayneB Posted January 24, 2014 Author Members Posted January 24, 2014 $50.00 per team and yes you can go to usabassin.com click on Tournaments then click Tracker/Nitro Team Trail then click on Missouri and it will give you all the locations and times and news of each tournament.
