Has anyone fished Caddo Lake in the winter? Thinking about making a run down there around Christmas. I have a couple of free nights lodging at a casino in Bossier City and Caddo is about 40 minutes away. I posted a question earlier about looking for some decent fishing a little further south.

I am really just looking for some slightly warmer weather that is within an 8-10 hour drive from Lake of the Ozarks! Bass, Crappie, Pickerel... I really just want to catch some fish and not freeze!!!! Caddo seems like it could be a fun fishing lake, maybe a bit challenging to run the boat and possibly a bit choked with grass right now...

Hey Joe, it's pretty darn cold down there right now too! That should moderate in a few days though. Seriously though, some parts of Caddo are dangerously full of old oil field debris. You must run the channel markers very carefully. IF you're going that far, drive a little further and go to Toledo Bend. Caddo is tough for a first timer.

Heck, go a little further and go to Cleco near Boyce. It's a power plant lake with a hot water discharge. You can fish some 78 degree water if you want.

Thanks Ham! Depending on the weather, I have started leaning towards Toledo Bend and possibly on south to Cleco, that appears to be a really interesting lake... Thanks for the advice and as time get's nearer I might hit you up for some more!!!

Thanks again,

Joe
