Members Greg W Posted December 15, 2013 Members Posted December 15, 2013 Went today. A lot of bait stacked in front of PC in 40 - 60 fow. Used slabs and horse heads but could not get a bite.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Na stump I FOUND A TON of shad today in 52.2 in 1 to 3fow. I know Doc is beside himself as I made it a point to call him and try to get his butt out. Best was a 4.25 average was about 2lbs but had a few 3's in there. Jerkbait and Pop-r were the ticket and it was a blast. Lets just say I tore them up before stopping to do a little ducky hunting in the exact same spot. One of those days you just dream about but one you scratch your head. Why was this are so warm why were they so shallow and why do I think my brain is smaller than theirs. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Greg W Posted December 16, 2013 Members Posted December 16, 2013 Seen many bass boats coming into PC between 4 and 5. Was there a tourney? Water temp in PC area was 44.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Yes there was. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Greg W Posted December 16, 2013 Members Posted December 16, 2013 Found bait today at beaver shores. Tried trolling without any luck. The lowest speed that I can troll is 3 mph. Is this to fast?
J-Doc Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Found bait today at beaver shores. Tried trolling without any luck. The lowest speed that I can troll is 3 mph. Is this to fast? I would say yes considering F&F and I troll 2.5mph in the summer. I would think 2.5 or even as low as 1.8 might be better in winter. Try dragging a drift sock or two. Or put your trolling motor down as that can help slow you down as well. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Members Greg W Posted December 16, 2013 Members Posted December 16, 2013 I could not believe the amount of bait across from beaver shores. I was very surprised whe I could not even hook up on white bass
J-Doc Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm not surprised. When they get like that and there's an overabundance amount of bait they will only eat that particular bait and went presented to them and such a natural way that only they know. All other bait won't seem to get a bite because they're quite content with their current food source at the time. At least that's been my experience because I have drop shot on a massive school of bait near that same area for almost an hour and could not get a bite for nothing even on a spoon or a drop shot Need marine repair? Members Greg W Posted December 17, 2013 Members Posted December 17, 2013 I believe you. At times the bait was so thick it would blackout my screen. I tried slabs. Horse head and even trolled so crank baits but not even a hit. It is probably the heaviest bait I have seen on beaver.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Lower speed 1.7 to 2.5 mph use flicker shad and even when baits super thick just run the outside edges of it. If its main channel bait get away from it and go to the flats. If its on the flats hit the cuts off the flats and points. If J-Doc is around just troll right next to him and smile as you reel them in https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
