According to a Biologist for Illinois Fish and Game, Mo can never have a 2 season split because of the 3 hunting zones. If they reduce to a north/south zone, you can have a split season.

The zones suck, the season is too late for the most part. It favors the ducks, most get to migrate thru unmolested in Oct. The mallards are the ones that take it on the chin.

JD that is BS capitalized B S. If Mo wanted to they can have splits in their season and still maintain 3 zones. The Federal Regulations set the Length and Limits but not the way its done, that is left to the states. Look at Kansas for example It has what 4 zones this year and each one has splits in it Basically allowing hunting in KS from Oct 5th to Jan 26 someplace in the state. Same hold true in OK and Louisiana. Illinois is not MO I would ask a MO representative why not .... wait I have and the answer is ( Its what hunters prefer in the survey we send out every 5 years ) I call BS on that as well and if you have partook in it you would understand why. My personal feeling is that MDC tries to keep it simple or they send the survey to people who live out of states and those people want their clubs to have prime time Mallards. I know biologist know we have 3 weeks of outstanding movement in Oct and early November but MALLARD IS MONEY,

Little off the subject but they must of hammered them around bee creek this morning. Lots of banging even later in the morning. Enjoyed listening while I had my coffee.
