BilletHead Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Some of these produced some tears. First one I was told were my great grand parents. Grandpa said his father had taken a Indian wife (Chippewa). He lived with them for a time until he found out why they had so many dogs. Food for lean times. Now to grandpa and grandma BilletHead. They did some travels, This was grandpas bike. It had written on the back 1940's Someone who knows about motor bikes could confirm the date or not? Whatever you do people is date your old photos of you can. We ran onto so many with out dates and names. I have been guilty of this. Njardar Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 You definitely get your love of nature and photography naturally. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
BilletHead Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Thanks Njardar, Going to post a few more. One of Grandma and great grandma with there catch. Check out the wood boats, Another one of one of their speed boats Grandma told me there was a bunch of guys grandpa included that built boas for speed and put outboards on them. Every week that would meet to race them and drink beer. No one wore lifejackets. Grandma said she got thrown overboard and could not swim. She said she sank to the bottom of the lake and crawled out on her hands and knees She was known to drink with the best of them also. Wish I could of witnessed the real story, Grandpa with a Minnesota deer in 73 (I have the horns from it) Grandma with her sunflowers, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" SpoonDog Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Thanks for sharing, Billethead. I still enjoy shooting film, and I love the detail captured even in in the cavalier old photos. It'd be interesting to see some of those places now for comparison.
duckydoty Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Really cool pictures Marty. The bike is definitely 1940's era. I had a 1947 flathead that looked real similar. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
BilletHead Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Thanks fellows, Spoondog you said you still shoot film? Process your own? Have you any need for a cannon AE1 program with I think three different lenses? I have been trying to give it away for some time. Thanks Duane for the bike info, guess the writing on the back is pretty accurate. Here is a couple with bikes. Give me your feed back bud. My dad on one of his bikes, his mom another grandma for me on his side. I guess I was lucky to have two grandmas on his side. They moved to California and that is where he got into bikes. Both of these were his. He told me if it went over at a stop sign he would have to get help to get it back up. Then he moved back to Missouri and met my Mom while they both worked at the Snow White drive in in St Joseph. Right after they got married he contracted polio and his biking days were gone. SpoonDog Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Back in highschool I learned to process my own, but I haven't had the time or the space to keep up with it.. As much as I'd like to take you up on the offer, it looks like the Canon lenses won't mesh with what I'm currently shooting. Still like the old photos, though. My dad had a vintage Indian...about the time I was old enough to start worshipping it, it miraculously disappeared from the garage Thanks again for the photos!

duckydoty Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Cant really tell for sure if they are Harleys or Indians, but they look like either 45 cubic inch or 80 cubic inch flat head motors. Springer front ends, suicide shifters The HD 45 cubic inch flat head was used during WW2. It was the WLA model. After the war they were very cheap and easy to get.
