Brian K. Shaffer
Wapsi Fly Inc, Arkansas, sells a new product for making both Bass and Bluegill bugs. Called PERFECT POPPER, these kits come with hooks and foam popping bug blanks to be affizxed to the shank of the supplied hooks. Add a little hackle.. a little marabou.. and you are set up! The only thing you might want to do is touch up the blank foam with a good marker.. like a PrismaColor. This is the cutting edge of materials as these are soft foam poppers. Instead of ruining a hard cork bug on one rock - these flies bouce off.. and they look good doing it! Sometimes you find the fish on right as the fish lands off the rock... thats classic! Try these poppers if you find them.. they come with hooks and all and in various colors. happy tying - Brian ( ask Jeremy about the wet MackieBug ) Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now. gonefishin
Any idea where a guy can get these around Springfield? Bluegill/Redear are my favorite fish. Catching a big 'gill or Redear on a fly rod is awesome. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. drew03cmc
Believe it or not, I would rather use a foam spider. It is indestructible, and I have caught sixty fish between 4-8" in one spot in three hours. VERY NICE! Andy
Members Charley Hart
Believe it or not, I would rather use a foam spider. It is indestructible, and I have caught sixty fish between 4-8" in one spot in three hours. VERY NICE! Used to use a ton of foam when I first started, now I use other things. I have a version of that poppper that I tie and I agree it can be a blast. Soon the crappie will be biting...
