Members Buford Mitchell Posted January 22, 2014 Members Posted January 22, 2014 I have never fished Lake Niangua but I want to. I am curious if my boat is big enough though. I have a 16/48 Jon with a 15hp motor. Is that boat stable enough for Lake Niangua or does big boats run on that lake like The Ozarks? I know it is a smaller lake but don't want to get on to big of water....
PAT92B Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 How is the fishing and is there any motor restrictions?
fishinwrench Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 There is a 10hp regulation posted but I've seen plenty of larger outboards on the lake (if you wanna call it a "lake"). Idling with a larger outboard is apparently not frowned upon. As for the fishing: it fishes about the same as any other backwater slough on the river. The folks that live nearby and fish it regularly pretty much eat everything they catch I think. Lots of roughish, water birds (some of which have a terrible attitude), turtles, and stunted panfish
