I have never fished Lake Niangua but I want to. I am curious if my boat is big enough though. I have a 16/48 Jon with a 15hp motor. Is that boat stable enough for Lake Niangua or does big boats run on that lake like The Ozarks? I know it is a smaller lake but don't want to get on to big of water....

There is a 10hp regulation posted but I've seen plenty of larger outboards on the lake (if you wanna call it a "lake"). Idling with a larger outboard is apparently not frowned upon.

As for the fishing: it fishes about the same as any other backwater slough on the river. The folks that live nearby and fish it regularly pretty much eat everything they catch I think. Lots of roughish, water birds (some of which have a terrible attitude), turtles, and stunted panfish
