This might help. or hurt the cabin fever of this cold winter if you haven't been out in awhile. However thought I'd post this video from the show Talkin' Outdoors did on the Little Red, very good segment they did catching some brown trout! The last 5 minutes is really cool!

Wow looks like a very good day on the LR.

Do you recognize the section they were fishing? I assume you have experienced the run of Browns as well.

Thanks for posting.

Well guess that's now on my list of places to go.

Actually I didn't recoginize that place, I have only fished down in the Lobo Landing area. I have caught some browns on some moss beds that that river has a lot off. I've never fished like they did there, but gonna have to do that someday!!

Thanks for the video! Best part "oh my god" followed by "I dont know what to do". I also need to go to the Little Red, even more so after seeing that hook jaw beast.

It's for sure the least talked about river on this forum probably. But i'm here to tell ya, its a great trout river, especially Brown trout. I caught a 22 incher on a trout magnet a couple years ago. I have not ever caught it like those guys were fishing it, and that time of year. I think the timing is important as with any river, don't think you'll slay them like that on every shoal every time, i'm sure that was planned and timed, but still impressive!!

Nice vid....My dad and I used to take a trip there every year....caught some nice fish down there...the coloration on those fish is very different from what catch in Missouri. Olive with bright red spots...Missouri browns are more bronze with black spots.

I THINK I know where that was. The trick to the Little Red is access. On the White, most of the really good water has access nearby. There are quite a few shoals on the Little Red, named and unnamed, that are a long way from public access. Access through private property is one way to get at them, but the best way is to canoe the river. At low flows like the LR had this fall, I don't care what kind of boat you have or how well you know the river. You simply cannot get to a lot of these shoals. Canoeing it is the way to go in my opinion.
