Feathers and Fins Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 When I run them straight line behind the boat typically I am trolling at 1.7 to 2.5 mph with a count of 40 about 120 to 150 ft roughly. When I use the boards there are several ways to use them and my speed is slowed down. 1.3 TO 1.5 MPH, Distance behind the boards is a learning game, with a 1/4oz head on obviously they will stay deeper so you have to adjust the length behind the boards if rigged with a worm hook weedless then they can be set further back. If I am running the brush shallow I like weedless as it puts a lot of action in the bait with the zigs and zags and of course the wave actions etc this drives bass nuts also. Best answer is you have to play with the baits to find out but shouldn't take to long to do that. As far as the performance goes it is more about the kind of action you put in them more than anything, the more erratic the shoreline forcing you to do those zig-zags the more action is put in to them. But I have had great luck just straight pulling them which tells me its a reaction bite more than anything else. I hope all that makes sense. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
ryan Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 We have a cabin on greers ferry and target walleye quite a bit. There are some big ones swimming around in all these ozark lakes. As far as growth rates I think they are suppose to grow faster than what you had listed just like smallmouth in southern waters. The catch is they don't live as long. Great article thanks for the good read!!!
