Took J-doc out today for some grocery shopping, Im not sure about him and Joe and the man-hugs in the parking lot but good guys and fishermen. JOE YOUR LATE.

Ok on the report launched around 8am. There was ice in many of the coves this morning nothing I could not get through but be careful in fiberglass boats. We checked a couple of my go to spots first and marked fish in surprisingly shallow water but no taker so we decided to move on to another go to Grocery Isle and it didn't take lone and both our rods went bendo at the same time.

Doc finally lost his cherry and boated a nice 15lb striper I lost mine at the boat. A couple passes later I connected again and 20lbs was in the boat. When I cleaned mine it was full of shad 1.5'' to 3'' size. Water was 36 to 39 and stained. Bait of choice were flicker shad, Doc had to be home early so we were off the water before 2pm but that was cool the wind was howling far harder than the weatherman said it would and without good boat control it was over for the bite.

Anyway here is Docs first striper

The man hug was for my brother from another mother. :-). I missed the old coot and hadn't seen him in a while. Always gotta love the family.

As for the "squatch" shown above, I had my hood from my hoodie, hood from jacket, knit hat, and face mask on so I do look a bit "blue squatch". Nice and round is my shape. Lol!

But hey, my H20 Express rain suit bibs and parka keep me dry and warm. Although the ride south this morning was chillier than nomal with the humidity up.

Scott, mine didn't have a single shad in it's gullet or belly. I did find a parasite though. Which explains why belly was empty. Well......I think it was a parasite anyway. I'll have to upload a photo.

No joke about both rods loading up. It was like someone shot a starting pistol and both rods laid back like we had snagged a tree. I figured it was a 6-8lb walleye but both of us had 15-20lb stripers. Scott's crossed over my line and as much as we tried to separate them, his broke loose. Mine didn't want to give up and stayed down for a while. Fun times! Two nice big fillets are soaking in the frig now.

Champ......there are two less stripers in Beaver. You're welcome. I'll do my best to thin the heard. Lol!

Here is what I thought was a parasite. If it's not, what the heck is it?

looks like the spine of a fish left over.

Nope. I don't think so anyway. Might have been. Looked like a centepede with little legs.
