Al Agnew Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Yep, gotta know what the canoe is before we could say for sure how well it would work. There aren't many 14 ft. canoes that are designed for tandem paddling, but if it has two seats it will work for one person fishing and other sitting and watching, but even then you have to be very careful, because the biggest potential problem with a canoe that short is that your partner is close enough to you that you could snag her with a sidearm cast if you get all excited about that big fish you just saw take a baby duckling off the surface.
Chief Grey Bear Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I have a 6' bed that I have hauled my 17' and 16'9" canoes in. Even stacked although I don't recommend that. As long as you strap the nose, you will be fine. That helps keep the weight off of the stress point at the tailgate. I do recommend getting a bed extender. You can buy them or build one yourself.
