duckydoty Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I was kinda all over the place this weekend so my report does not really fit into any one fishing report thread. Started off with the great idea on Friday of getting some creek chubs for fishing on upper Bull Shoals with my brother Dave on Saturday. I ended up hitting the jackpot with the creek chubs on Friday and was so excited about catching walleye that I could not sleep that night. Got up at 3:30 in the morning and it was 43 degrees at my house on Table Rock. Great! I thought. By the time we got over to River Run, it was 23 degrees and cold! Put in at River Run just before daylight and boated up to the Pot Hole. Spent about an hour working the seams up there with out a bite. Started drifting the creek chubs across the flats all the way down to Barkers Hole still with out a bite. Finally got one bite on a drop off of a flat just below Barker Hole around 11 in the morning. Only had the fish on for a couple of seconds and it did not feel too big. Started getting bored and headed over to Flat Creek on the James River Arm of Table Rock to look for some crappie. There were quite a few boats out there but I did not see any fish being caught. I ended up with 2 keeper crappie, one short and a nice kentucky on Bobby Garland Monkey Milk with 1/16th oz. jig heads. Fished till just before dark and called it quits. Sunday morning we headed to the Landing area on Lake Taneycomo for more crappie and trout. It was a fish catching day. We caught 12-15 crappie and a bunch of trout on white trout magnets about 5 feet under a weighted bobber. Had a lot of fun spending time with my brother Dave this weekend and looking forward to the next time he can come down to fish again. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! vonreed Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Nice report. It's my goal this year to find me a good creek chub hole on the way to Forsyth and hit the walleye as much as possible this year. Instead of using the usual jerkbaits and soft plastics. Trying to learn something new and more efficient for catching them. Thanks for the report.
