Members stitch Posted March 1, 2014 Author Members Posted March 1, 2014 Yeah I plan to read up on all the regs before fishing down there.
navery Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Cut crappie is a violation. No game fish or their parts may be used for bait in Mo. Shad is great bait for spring as there is almost always some that die in winter and get blown onto shallow flats and banks. I have had more luck on blue gills in the summer but they will still hit it. Caught a 40 lber in January on a gill head.
Members stitch Posted March 3, 2014 Author Members Posted March 3, 2014 Bluegill arent gamefish in MO then? Sorry if thats a dumb question, your regs on that are totally different than they are here. In Iowa you can use any fish for bait as long as it was legally caught and considered part of your daily bag limit.
bfishn Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Bluegill arent gamefish in MO then? Correct; http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/fishing-regulations/game-fish-regulations As a nongame "other fish" you can bait with them. Any over 5" have to be pole & line caught. I think there's a limit on how many you can possess. I can't dance like I used to.
Members stitch Posted March 30, 2014 Author Members Posted March 30, 2014 Has anyone been trying for any cats recently? We'll be down next weekend and well prolly spend all of our time catfishing. We had planned to try and snag some spoonbill too, but we dont know anything about it or where to go, and Im the only one of the group that has equipment that would work for it. So since we dont have a lot of time this trip, cats it is. We went ahead and committed to the place we were coming down to look at (without even seeing it), so well have plenty of time for everything else!
Old plug Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I have not butlast two times on the lake Imseen juggers out there.
Members stitch Posted March 30, 2014 Author Members Posted March 30, 2014 Ok, thanks. Our plan is to stay in the turkey creek area, well prolly try anchoring behind windblown points and fishing cut shad and shrimp.
