Bassmaster21 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hello all, I know we are a ways off still from the time where the largemouths actually spawn but just curious what people think about spawning bass on this lake. Where? Or what to look for? I know flats is usually the answer but I was hoping for a little more detail. Just trying to learn more and more. Have a great day!
Lvn2Fish Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 At stockton seek out coves with gravel bottom. The spawn will happen earliest up river at cc and make its way down to the dam. These largemouth love to spawn next to some kind of cover. Wether that is a big rock, or a laydown log. Like I stated above gravel is key!!! Look for areas protected from the north and south winds. These bass wont spawn in an area prone to big waves. A wacky rigged senko will catch more than you can handle once the spawn arrives. I would say this spawn will be late april. Just look for water temps in the mid 60's. With the clear water the fish can spawn pretty deep. On stockon with the water as clear as it is. The beds shouldnt be hard to spot.
