Macsimus Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Fished a few creeks between Hwy 86 and the Ark line. Only one 13.5" spot to show for my efforts. Tried jig and grub, small Title Shot football head with hula grub, rogue, and A-rig. This is my first time with the A-rig and that's what I caught the spot on. Good news is that I had a kink in the shoulder of my casting arm and was able to work that out chucking the a-rig. Water temps were roughly 42-45. Awesome spring day to be on the water made especially sweet with the knowledge that my favorite lakes back home are still covered with 30" of ice. Gonna give it another shot today in the Cow Creek area. If you see a pasty white yankee in a white basscat with blue bolt, stop and say hello. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
duckydoty Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Good luck to you out there today. Still have yet to catch my first fish on the A-rig. Get too busy chasing the crappie to throw it. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Champ188 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Don't be afraid to go well back into the Cows (Little or Big Cow). Find where steep banks with big chunk rock transition to gravel and concentrate on those areas with a 5/16-ounce finesse jig or a grub. You can also get whacked on a jerk bait, especially if there's timber around. Get out there and have fun. Wish I could go.
