duckydoty Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Went back to the point 15 area about 10 a.m. and caught my first keeper crappie in 20 feet of water about 10 minutes into fishing. Did not catch another one keeper till after 4. The wind was blowing hard and I worked every inch of the Peach Orchard and Stones Flat in all depths of water and just could not find a keeper that wanted to bite. Did pick up a few shorts here and there but nothing to pattern. Finally ran all the way up Flat Creek till the deepest water I could find was 5 feet and worked may way back out. Caught a nice chunky small mouth way up there and a short crappie here and there on the way out. Got into a big flat area and started picking up a bunch of small male whites in 5-7 feet of water along with a few short crappies. Was just about to give up, go home and have dinner, but wanted to try 2 more spots on the way out. The first spot I pulled up to was stumps in 7-9 feet of water on the flat above the bridge. First cast and a 13 inch crappie. Ended up pulling 7 more keepers out of that stump wade, 4 shorts, and 2 bass. Decided it was time to go about 45 minutes before dark and pulled off the stump. It was a long day that ended with a bang. The crappie have moved up into the shallows and were holding on structure today. Sure wish I made that move this morning instead of working 16-30 feet of water all day in that wind. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. vonreed Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Nice. I wish I would have been that smart. I fished all the way up Flat to the old bridge pillars and turned around. I did notice the water was up to 51 degrees up flat creek and only 48 down at pt 15 I ended up only catching 2 small crappie from 4-6:30. I wanted to find you just to get help, lol.
duckydoty Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 I got about 1/2 way up in there around noon and went back out to Stone's flat. Wish I would have kept on going back in there then. I love fishing brush and timber like that in shallow water. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
