Fished a couple of hours after work yesterday looking for crappie again. Started off way back in Peach Orchard and picked up 5 or 6 crappie on pole timber in 8-11 feet of water with 3 of them being keepers. Went up the James river arm and checked a few more brush piles in some small coves with a swing and a miss. Went all the way back up Flat Creek above the bride and fished lay downs along the first bluff up there and must have caught 35-40 crappie and a few whites up there with most of them being shorts. Did manage to bring home a dozen keepers though. All the fish were caught on 1/16th oz jig heads and Bobby Garland bodies. Color just did not matter. I had 5 rods rigged up with different colors and as soon as I would loose a jig in the brush, I would just pick up another rod and keep catching on a different color. Gonna tray the Long Bend and Wooley Creek area today. Wanna try and stay out of the way of the snaggers.

Ducky, my hat's off to you sir. You give some of the most detailed fishing reports I have even seen for crappie. You are truly a gentleman and a great asset to those of us who cannot fish every day. post-16718-0-48612100-1394919409.jpg

I went out today looking for whites up the James, but couldn't get past the snaggers. So I figured I might as well join them. It was was such a circus I couldn't resist. Ended up catching a couple decent females and a small male.

I was surprised at the water temp. I was showing 54 by early afternoon.....but it could have from all the warm water discharge from all the boats!

Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.

Good looking spoony! I was in Flat Creek for a while today. Got a little crowded so I headed down to the point 14 area.
